The 2025 International Digital Energy Expo kicked off today in Shenzhen, bringing together industry leaders, experts, and professionals from across the globe. Under the theme “Cleaner Energy Generation, Smarter Grids, Flexible Demand, and Diversified Storage,” participants explored pathways for collaborative development and jointly envisioned a new digital energy ecosystem. At the grand opening ceremony, BYD Energy Storage captured widespread attention with the worldwide debut of its breakthrough energy storage product—Haohan.

Present at the ceremony were He Long, Executive Vice President of BYD Group and CEO of the Battery Business Group; Zhao Tong, Deputy General Manager of the Second Division and TBO Director; and Yin Xueqin, General Manager of the Energy Storage and New Battery Division. Cao Hu, Dean of the Power Science Research Institute of the Energy Storage and New Battery Division, shared the story behind Haohan—from its origins to its realization—offering profound insights into the advanced technology and design philosophy embedded in the product.

Haohan is equipped with the world’s largest 2710Ah blade battery, specifically engineered for energy storage applications. Compared to conventional storage batteries, it delivers more than three times the capacity and represents a major leap in energy density. With a minimum unit capacity of 14.5MWh, it ranks first globally. Packed into a standard 20-foot container, Haohan achieves an ultra-high capacity of 10MWh, accompanied by a Vcts of 52.1%—the highest in the world and 39.7% above the industry average. By using fewer containers, occupying less space, and streamlining management architecture, Haohan elevates system integration to a new level, truly embodying the motto: “small in size, big in energy.”

In addition, Haohan boasts the world’s highest system protection rating—IP66. It offers complete dust resistance and excels even in sandstorms and harsh environments. This superior protection extends the service life of dust-sensitive components by 100%, reduces system failure rates by 70%, and cuts maintenance costs by 70%, setting a new benchmark for all-scenario energy storage applications.

According to Cao Hu, Haohan was developed under the philosophy that “greatness lies in simplicity.” Integrating ultra-safety, high efficiency, and long service life, it provides robust support for the coming TWh-scale power station era. Haohan empowers grid upgrades and drives the energy storage industry toward a greener, smarter, and more sustainable future.

At the expo, BYD Energy Storage also showcased its self-developed PCS all-in-one machine GC Flux and the EMS energy management system GC Master alongside Haohan, offering global users GW-level grid-forming energy storage solutions. Leveraging the advantage of “full-stack in-house R&D, from cell to grid,” the system achieves end-to-end optimized efficiency and fully meets the demands of storage stations that serve as both power and energy hubs. This significantly enhances grid resilience and contributes to a more flexible, robust, and intelligent energy future. The display attracted large crowds of visitors who stopped to observe, discuss, and exchange ideas—making Haohan the undeniable star of the event.

At this year’s expo, BYD Energy Storage reaffirmed its commitment to building an open and comprehensive energy ecosystem, injecting strong “Shenzhen power” into national energy security, industrial transformation, and green, low-carbon development. Guided by the principle of “technology as the core, innovation as the foundation,” BYD Energy Storage will continue to advance in the field of clean energy, delivering more cutting-edge and reliable products and solutions. Together with global partners, the company aims to explore the future of digital energy and jointly build a new era of smart, sustainable energy.
