The 23rd China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition (CIMAMotor) opened in Chongqing on September 19. BAK Battery, a global leader in lithium-ion battery technology, showcased its latest electric two-wheeler battery solutions at the event. The highlight of its display was the PRO-MAX series—engineered specifically to address safety concerns in electric two-wheelers—alongside the high-safety PRO-M product line. This demonstration underscored BAK’s dedication to providing global users with products that are truly safe, economical, and high-performing.
As the centerpiece of BAK’s exhibition, the PRO-MAX 46137 battery embodies the theme of “True Safety and Superior Economy,” building on the innovation of the PRO-M high-safety series. Through multi-dimensional upgrades in materials and structure, this battery achieves comprehensive improvements in safety, economy, and performance:
- Materials: Featuring a nano-composite material system, it delivers a gravimetric energy density of 190Wh/kg and a volumetric energy density of 490Wh/L. With a single-cell capacity of 30Ah, it sets a new industry benchmark for electric two-wheeler batteries.
- Structural Design: Equipped with a steel casing and a directional pressure relief mechanism, the battery excels in rigorous tests including nail penetration, thermal propagation, overcharge, and deep discharge. Its tabless design reduces internal resistance to just 0.8mΩ—a 90% reduction compared to traditional structures—effectively minimizing temperature rise.
- User Experience: The PRO-MAX 46137 offers outstanding practicality: it charges from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes; supports 2,000 cycles with over 80% capacity retention, ensuring stable performance for more than five years; and operates reliably across a wide temperature range from -35℃ to 65℃. Even in cold conditions, it maintains over 90% of its energy, increasing winter range by 130% and eliminating range anxiety.
Also featured were the PRO-M High-Safety Series 18650-20M—designed primarily for balance scooters—as well as tabless and high-capacity product lines. The PRO-M 18650-20M, for instance, passes nail penetration tests with ease and performs stably between -30℃ and 70℃, supporting over 1,000 cycles. It is well-suited for shared mobility devices and light electric vehicles.
The tabless models 2170-45D and 2170-50D offer ultra-low internal resistance and perform across a 100℃ temperature range, making them ideal for electric motorcycles and e-bikes in diverse conditions.
The high-capacity 21700 series has been widely recognized by customers in Southeast Asia for its long range and high consistency. Meanwhile, BAK Battery’s expertise in cylindrical battery technology has propelled it into the top six in India’s lithium-ion battery import market in 2023, rising to fourth place in 2024. The company is poised to become a preferred battery supplier for commuters worldwide.
As the global energy transition accelerates, electrification is expanding from new energy vehicles and smart devices into areas such as two-wheeled transportation and energy storage—driving industrial upgrades and green development worldwide.
