Envision Energy has deepened its partnership with European renewable energy producer Kallista Energy by commissioning the 193 MW/386 MWh Neuilly-en-Thelle battery energy storage system (BESS) in Hauts-de-France. Construction work began in July 2026, and the facility is due to enter commercial operation before spring 2028. The project follows the two companies’ first collaboration on the Saleux BESS—Envision Energy’s initial storage installation in France—which started construction in 2025.
Under the agreement, Envision Energy will supply its advanced BESS solution and manage the asset across its entire lifecycle, covering ongoing maintenance and end-of-life battery recycling after 25 years of operation. The system is built around lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells sourced from Envision AESC’s 10 GWh gigafactory in Hauts-de-France, which commenced production in June 2025. By combining locally manufactured cells with system-level controls, the project aims to strengthen regional industrial capacity and enhance power grid resilience.
Once in service, the Neuilly-en-Thelle installation will provide flexibility services to the French grid, including frequency regulation through RTE’s reserve markets, helping to balance electricity supply and demand. It will deliver daily energy capacity equivalent to the consumption of roughly 30,000 households, improving overall grid stability, enabling greater shares of renewable generation, and contributing to France’s electrification targets.
Henry Peng, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy and President of its Europe and Latin America regions, stressed the project’s role in advancing a Future Energy System that reinforces grid reliability, accelerates renewable integration, and supports sustainable industrial growth across Europe. Johann Tardy, CEO of Kallista Energy Group, observed that high-quality battery storage infrastructure is vital for the large-scale deployment of renewables and the shift to a low-carbon economy. Both companies see the Neuilly-en-Thelle project as a scalable model for energy storage developments elsewhere in Europe.
