SÃO PAULO, Brazil | August 25, 2026 – At The Smarter E South America 2026, running from August 25 to 27 in São Paulo, CATL is presenting a complete energy storage ecosystem that spans the entire value chain—from cell research and energy management systems to project execution and in-country support. The company also used the occasion to announce a strategic alliance with Moura, with the two firms set to jointly participate in Brazil’s Capacity Reserve Auction for Energy Storage, a move that further highlights CATL’s long-term commitment to the nation’s sustainable and resilient power sector.

A Portfolio Designed for Brazil’s Grid Realities

CATL is showcasing a range of utility-scale storage systems engineered specifically for the evolving needs of Brazil’s electricity market.

TENER S, the company’s next-generation storage platform, anchors the display. Designed to protect asset value over decades, the system maintains both capacity and power with zero degradation during the first year of its 20-year service life. Its liquid cooling design reduces auxiliary power consumption by up to 20%, cutting operational expenses. TENER S also delivers 30% higher areal energy density while occupying 20% less land, which lowers balance-of-system costs. For Brazil, where grid instability remains a recurring challenge, TENER S supplies the utility-scale capacity and long-term dependability essential for integrating renewables. The platform has already been selected for large global projects, including a 1.5 GWh development in Spain and a long-term service-backed installation at the Supernode project in Australia.

For applications demanding high density in utility and industrial/commercial settings, TENER H employs 575 Ah cells to fit 9,008 kWh into each container, improving land-use efficiency by 45% and reducing project costs in space-constrained locations. The system can be configured for 2, 4, or 8 hours of storage: the 2-hour variant delivers fast response for grid stabilization, while the 4- and 8-hour options achieve up to 96.0% round-trip efficiency, strengthening returns for longer-duration use cases.

Making its Brazilian debut at the event is TENER Sodium, a recently launched 30 MWh integrated sodium-ion system. It offers a 20-year design life, 95% round-trip efficiency, and dependable operation from -20°C to +45°C, with IEC, UL, and CE certifications. Beyond advanced sodium cells, the system incorporates BMS, PCS, and thermal management specifically optimized for sodium-ion behavior, enabling rapid deployment and reliable site-level performance.

TENER Sodium brings CATL’s site-level engineering and full-lifecycle asset management capabilities into the sodium-ion space. These capabilities have been built through years of turnkey project deliveries worldwide and are reinforced by a newly unveiled whole-station testing facility in Xiamen, where real-world grid-connected performance is validated to help ensure bankable results from day one. Taken together, these strengths position CATL as a comprehensive end-to-end energy storage provider.

Deep Roots and Long-Term Partnerships in Brazil

The newly announced partnership pairs CATL with Moura, one of Brazil’s leading battery manufacturers, to jointly enter the country’s Capacity Reserve Auction for Energy Storage (LRCAP 2026 – National Storage), an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy. The collaboration combines CATL’s advanced storage technologies with Moura’s deep regional expertise, and is further supported by a second strategic partner that holds the No. 1 market share in PCS/inverters in Brazil. Together, the parties aim to develop localized production that meets the auction’s local content requirements.

CATL enters this alliance from a strong market position, already holding a 45% share of Brazil’s energy storage sector. Its project portfolio covers utility transmission, agriculture, cold-chain logistics, and industrial facilities, including the landmark Registro project. As Brazil’s first utility-scale battery energy storage system in the transmission segment, Registro has reliably supported a critical substation serving 15 cities and approximately 2 million residents since it came online in December 2022.

The company’s local commitment extends across the full lifecycle of its storage assets. CATL’s South American service network includes five senior storage experts and more than 140 certified engineers, enabling a tiered response framework: one-hour remote support, two-day on-site dispatch, and five-day cross-regional expert escalation. Regional spare parts inventories, backed by four global core warehouses and over 50 front-end stocking points, guarantee availability of critical components for up to 20 years. CATL also provides standardized training through its South American facility in Santiago, Chile, and operates regional recycling channels for compliant transport, dismantling, and material recovery at end of life.

Global Recognition and Proven Bankability

CATL’s industry standing has recently been reinforced by three of the world’s most influential energy sector evaluators. S&P Global Energy named CATL a Tier 1 supplier in both energy storage battery cells and systems for 2026, ranking it first globally by market share in each category. Wood Mackenzie awarded CATL an "A" grade and a top-3 position in its inaugural Global BESS Integrator Comprehensive Ranking.
