Farasis Energy Signs Strategic Agreement with WLF Energy

Chinese battery maker Farasis Energy has entered into a strategic partnership with German energy technology company WLF Energy, a move designed to expand its overseas energy storage business. Under the deal, the two firms will jointly devise a technology and product roadmap focused on co-developing next-generation battery technologies and energy storage products. The resulting solutions will be aimed at utility-scale, commercial and industrial, and distributed storage applications.

The agreement was formally signed by Farasis President Dong Ligang and WLF Energy Founder and CEO Sebastian Wolf. The collaboration spans the deployment of battery cells, integrated battery systems, energy management software, and large-scale storage installations. At the heart of the partnership lies the deep integration of Farasis’ pouch-cell technology with WLF Energy’s AI-powered energy management platform, targeting improvements in performance, cost reduction, safety, and lifecycle economics.

The partners plan to explore a wide range of application scenarios, including virtual power plants, smart energy infrastructure, and grid-stability projects. To guide these initiatives, they will jointly craft a ten-year technology roadmap covering multiple battery chemistries, advanced battery management systems, and AI-driven optimization algorithms. This roadmap will underpin joint research, development, and pilot deployments, with the aim of rapidly scaling storage solutions across key markets.

Geographically, the two companies intend to pursue opportunities in Europe, Asia, North America, the Middle East, and Africa. Farasis brings deep know-how in battery chemistry and large-scale manufacturing, while WLF Energy contributes an integrated clean energy platform that combines storage hardware, software, and project development services.

This cooperation marks a significant milestone in Farasis’ global expansion strategy and reflects a broader trend of Chinese battery firms partnering with local players to gain market access and technological synergies abroad. Although Farasis remains a relatively small player in China’s power battery sector — ranking tenth in the domestic ternary lithium battery market in May with a 0.04% share — the company aims to use this partnership to strengthen its foothold and accelerate its international growth.
