Chinese battery maker Eve Energy has signed a large-scale agreement with Indian energy company Godawari New Energy Private Limited (GNEPL) as it seeks to broaden its reach across the South Asian market.
The two parties inked an order for 8 GWh of energy storage system batteries, according to a statement released Tuesday.
Eve Energy said the signing lays the foundation for long-term strategic mutual trust and represents a major breakthrough for the company in South Asia.
Under their long-term development roadmap, the potential scale of energy storage battery cooperation between the two firms could reach up to 60 GWh over the next five years.
India is currently one of the world’s fastest-growing new energy markets and is entering a historic window for the large-scale expansion of the energy storage industry, Eve Energy noted.
With the rapid increase in the share of renewable energy in India, the local grid’s demand for system stability, frequency regulation and peak shaving is becoming increasingly pronounced.
The 628-Ah energy storage batteries used in this partnership feature high safety and a minimalist integration design, which can significantly lower the full life-cycle cost of projects, the battery maker stated.
These battery products align with the Indian market’s expectations for efficient and sustainable energy storage solutions and help enhance the operational efficiency of power stations, the company added.
The two sides will combine their respective resources and industry strengths to accelerate the deployment of energy storage projects in India and promote the low-carbon transition of the local energy structure.
Eve Energy is one of China’s largest battery manufacturers. In April, its installed battery volume in China reached 3.11 GWh, according to data from the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).
This gives the company a 4.98% share of the domestic market, ranking it fifth overall in China’s battery sector.
